SESSION DESCRIPTION:

Dr. Butler, an expert on heart failure, will discuss strategies for recognizing and diagnosing heart failure in patients, including the role of natriuretic peptides as clinical biomarkers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Review recommendations offered in current evidence-based guidelines intended to encourage early recognition and timely diagnosis of patients with heart failure
  • Apply diagnostic and therapeutic strategies using BNP and NT-proBNP as clinical biomarkers to guide the care of patients with heart failure
  • Evaluate efficacy and safety data associated with evidence-based strategies for identifying and treating heart failure in patients with reduced ejection fraction
